Gazprom says fulfills obligations, pumps more when possible
ST.PETERSBURG, Oct 7 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom fulfills all its contractual obligations and delivers in excess of that when possible, CEO of the export branch Yelena Burmistrova said on Thursday on the sidelines of a forum.
"We deliver gas under the orders that exceed our contract obligations where there is technical possibility," Burmistrova said.
She said that the European spot market was unsatisfactory as a pricing instrument.
"The European spot market disorients both buyers and sellers because of a high price volatility and carries the risk of destabilizing the economy of the entire region," Burmistrova said.
She added that liquefied natural gas (LNG) is mostly delivered to the premium Asian markets, while long-term pipeline gas contracts have become increasingly desirable in these circumstances.
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia has a potential to raise deliveries to Europe and that the alternatives to transit across Ukraine are more technologically advanced and environmentally friendly.
CEO of Gazprom's partner in Nord Stream 2 pipeline OMV Alfred Stern said that the company hopes for a fast launch of the pipeline.
